KARPOV not KASPAROV
Karpov not Kasparov, an amazing group from Romania, was obviously inspired by the great Soviet chess players of the last century, which makes their performance in Russia especially intriguing. Valery Borkos and Edward Gabiafounded the group in 2009 in Bukarest and have gained recognition in their homeland and in Europe. As the producer of the festival Tinkoff STEREOLETO, Ilya Bortnyuk, says “Daft Punk would have sounded like that if they were born in Bukarest, grew beards, and loved the old analog synthesizers and Soviet films The Secret of the Third Planet, Great Space Travel, and Moscow-Cassiopeia. The sounds of vintage drum machines are intertwined with the warm sounds of vintage analog synthesizers, whose parts balance somewhere on the verge of avant-garde jazz and Arabic melodies. In the live show, the group uses interesting theatrical effects and unexpected multimedia solutions - from old black and white films to guest ballerinas suddenly appearing on stage. On July 7, the band will debut in Russia – do not miss this unusual spectacle!
