CHIKISS

Galina Ozeran, better known as Chikiss is a Berlin singer and pianist, composer and electronic musician of Belarusian origin. Over the past decade, alone and in collaborations, Chikiss has recorded an impressive amount of very different, amazing music - from ghostly noir-electro, like on the latest album “New Season”, and synthesizer minimalist pop music to full-blooded psychedelic pop with its groove and dramaturgy. Chikiss was born in Vitebsk, at the age of 19 she moved to Petersburg, and since 2015 she has been living in Berlin. In her work, Chikiss is engaged in rebuilding of popular music in general and the image of the "pop star" in particular. This is a collection of musical sketches, where only the basic rhythm, short vocal loops or simple melodies remain from the traditional song form, and the main role is played by the details and the process of immersion into the sound atmosphere. Galya always performs alone, performing all synthesizer and electronic parts herself, programming effects and drum machines. This is another important element of the concept - the DIY approach as opposed to the “girl with a microphone” image dominating in modern pop culture.
